Second Grade

Second-grade students are offered rich experiences, challenging projects, and loads of achievement opportunities. The Everyday Mathematics series is used to build on and extend concept understandings. The Scholastic Literacy Place reading program provides second-graders with direct instruction in phonics and phonological awareness. The Full Option Science System Kits on insects, solids, liquids, gases, and physics provide hands-on science experiences and serve as a foundation for more advanced ideas.

In social studies, students experience diversity and an appreciation for other cultures. In religion, students grow spiritually through preparation for First Eucharist, are taught a variety of prayer methods, and are introduced to the Liturgical Seasons and the sacramental life of the church year. Students also study several heros who have been sainted.
