Vision and Hearing Screening

Vision and hearing screening will take place in the courtyard on Thursday, November 6th.

In keeping with the recommendations of the Minnesota Department of Health, our school will be conducting a mass Hearing and Vision Screening on Thursday, Nov 6, 2014 in the St. Odilia courtyard. Vision will be screened for new students and grades K, 1, 3, and 5 and hearing will be screened for new students and grades K and 1. Other students can be screened at the request of teachers or parents. If your student has corrective lenses for a vision problem, it is very important for the student to wear or bring their prescribed corrective lenses to school on Nov. 6 in order for vision to be screened accurately.

Students who do not meet passing criteria for vision or hearing on Nov. 6 will be rescreened at a later date and/or referred to a health care provider for follow-up care. Parents will be notified if their child did not meet passing criteria.

Each year in the state of MN, thousands of hearing and vision problems are identified for the first time due to mass school screenings. Early identification and intervention is crucial in preventing long-term complications related to hearing and vision. If you wish for your child to be excluded from participating in the mass screening or have specific questions or concerns, please contact the school health office or Licensed School Nurse.
